“They're very approachable, and they are very willing to help us and discuss anything that we're confused about or have questions about.”

“Basically, we can discuss with the lecturers and teachers about any ideas that we have and any knowledge that we have learned before but are not completely sure about. So we can ask and discuss with them.”

“At the beginning, it was very hard for me to talk to people.”

“Then I realised Australian people just talk to strangers like they're friends. They ask everything and talk about everything in their life.”

“This semester I have three days of class.”

“Basically, in the morning I just wake up, go to uni, and I will arrive around probably 30 minutes before the class to review all the stuff that I need to learn during the day.”

“Maybe we will review the stuff that we have learned the other day before being in the class and be ready.”

“And the weather... so perfect.”

Outside university, Anh enjoys making the most of Melbourne's cultural attractions and creative atmosphere.

“I go to the museum because I think Melbourne has a very rich culture in art.”

“Whenever I have free time, I just go to any museum to see the art.”

She also enjoys spending time in Melbourne's CBD.

“CBD area, so there's a lot of shopping area. My favorite bookshop is on this street as well. There's a lot of bookshops.”

“I like books, I like reading books, so I just go to the bookshop, browse the books, and read some pages. I think it helps me refresh my mind and concentrate better during the day.”

“The location of the campus is very convenient because it's right in the centre of the city.”

“We have trams, trains and the free tram zone in this area, so it's very convenient for students.”

Looking back on her own experience, Anh believes the key to succeeding as an international student is to stay curious and never hesitate to ask for help.

“Try to ask anything that you don't understand and try to be open-minded.”
